Overview: The Martha’s Vineyard Community Foundation is dedicated to enhancing and preserving the quality of life on the Island. Since its founding in 1982, the Foundation has provided over $17 million to more than 200 Island non-profits and initiatives, and scholarships to over 1,800 Island students, while simultaneously building and prudently stewarding an endowment to serve as a source of funding for the Island’s future needs. It manages over 50 grant and scholarship funds valued at more than $13 million.

 

Position Title: Program Manager

 

Purpose: The Program Manager (“Manager”), a full-time, exempt employee of the Foundation, oversees programs and activities of the Foundation. This includes grantmaking, the awarding of scholarships, management of government grants, and fiscal sponsorships.

 

The Manager oversees the annual competitive scholarship and grant processes, ensuring that it continues to be useful and impactful to the community. This work comprises creating the overall grant and scholarship calendars, reviewing applications, leading the review process with the Board, and communicating with students, grantees and fund advisors. This position works closely with external and internal stakeholders.

 

The Manager will use the online programs in the Foundation’s cloud-based grants and scholarships software. The Program Manager is responsible for creating timelines, managing and adjusting the online applications as needed, effectively communicating to applicants, and working with the Community Foundation team and other vendors to accomplish a successful cycle from concept through award announcements and delivery of funds.

 

The Manager has a key role in producing existing annual events such as the Creative Living Award and the Grants Awards.

 

Works closely with: Executive Director and Operations Director.

 

The Foundation is a small organization. Staff members work collaboratively and have broad responsibilities for entire processes, ranging from administrative to operations to strategy. Salary range: $60,000-$80,000/year.

● Knowledgeable about Martha’s Vineyard and ideally also the non-profit landscape
● Good at project management
● Strong grasp of technology (Google Suite, able to quickly learn our cloud based software CSuite)
● Demonstrated ability to manage deadlines and relationships
● Good oral and written communication
● Attention to detail
● Ability to work independently
● Participate actively and collaboratively in a small team of three
● Able to exercise discretion with confidential information
● Sense of humor a plus
