Sally Lasker

Board Member

Sally Lasker first came to Martha’s Vineyard in the fall of 1979, planning to spend just one quiet year away from her challenging career in Salt Lake City, where she grew up. But the Island worked its magic, and that one year turned into more than 45.

Early on, Sally and her husband opened a cartographic studio, creating detailed maps and guidebooks for a New York publishing company, including a guide book of Martha’s Vineyard. They later co-founded a successful technology business together.

Later, Sally joined the staff of Vineyard Conservation Society. During that time, she also raised three children on the Island, weaving family life into the rich fabric of the Vineyard community.

Alongside her professional work, she has been deeply involved in Island life, serving on numerous town and regional boards, including the Chilmark Board of Health, the Martha’s Vineyard Refuse Disposal and Resource Recovery District, the Up-Island School Committee, and the Regional High School Committee. She also served on the board of Friends of Family Planning.

Sally enjoys working in her garden, playing tennis, and exploring the Island’s trails and beaches. She continues to find joy in the same natural beauty and sense of connection that first drew her to the Vineyard more than four decades ago.
