Emergency Response / Urgent Needs

Martha’s Vineyard Community Foundation awards Emergency Response/Urgent Needs funding to support local nonprofits experiencing unexpected crises and those that are addressing emergency situations Island wide.

Each emergency is unique. It might be as large as what Islanders experienced during the COVID pandemic; it might be a more focused situation such as a crisis that displaces a group of people from their homes. We want to hear about what the situation entails so that we and our donors can help. We also seek to be better informed so we can connect people with resources beyond money.

Emergency funding is available all year round. Grant applications are reviewed on an ongoing basis. We respond as quickly as possible in order to provide support during stressful times.

To discuss emergency needs and learn more about submitting an application, contact Program Manager Elizabeth Bennett at or 508-338-4665
