HOUSING: COALITION TO CREATE
THE MARTHA’S VINEYARD HOUSING BANK (CCMVHB)

The decades-old affordable housing crisis on the Island is intensifying. With median Vineyard real estate sales exceeding $1M, it is extremely difficult for working people to afford stable housing.

The Community Foundation serves as the fiscal sponsor for the CCMVHB, establishing an Island-wide Housing Bank, modeled on the Land Bank, that provides significant permanent funding to address our Island’s housing crisis. The MVCF provides staffing, publicity, and legal and political assistance. The diverse group of coalition members listen, educate, and build Island-wide support for this critical initiative. 

Through the MVCF Rental Relief and Utility Support Fund, we also work with agencies and nonprofits who provide direct assistance to residents in need.
