Anne washed ashore on Martha’s Vineyard as a college student in 1985, she obtained a cool and sweet job as the summer manager of the Edgartown Mad Martha’s Ice Cream shop. In 1988, she accepted a position at the Tisbury School. Anne’s colleagues, including Kerry and Pat Alley took her under their wings and introduced her to Island living through biking, hiking, community events and more. Within months Anne was “hooked” and since then has proudly resided on the Island. Anne currently teaches third grade at the Tisbury School. Her students are keen inspirations for the important work of the Endowment.

During the 1990s, Anne’s love of the outdoors (and specifically the beach) led her to the summer position of property attendant for the Martha’s Vineyard Land Bank. Working on stunning properties such as the Gay Head Beach, Great Rock Bite and Chilmark Pond magnified the quality of Vineyard life. Her interests in running and tennis motivated her to participate annually in non-profit and charity events and planted the seed for ways to give back to the community.

Anne has served on many committees and boards including the Nightingales(supporting direct patient care at MVH), Vineyard Youth Tennis parent advisory committee, Community Services “Different Kinds of Families” project, Tisbury School PTO, and Friends of the Edgartown Library. She has served on the boards of the Vineyard Montessori School and the Federated Church. Currently, Anne is a board member of Martha’s Vineyard Community Tennis.

Anne graduated from the University of Michigan with a BS in education. She received a masters degree in early childhood education from Lesley College in Cambridge, MA. Anne lives with her husband, John and daughter Lizzie in the historic town of Edgartown.
