Hilary (she/her) is driven by giving back to this incredible community that raised her. After graduating from Hobart and William Smith Colleges with a BA in Anthropology and Latin American Studies, she moved back to the Island and has enjoyed a meaningful career working for Island nonprofits. Prior to joining the Community Foundation, she served as Executive Director at the Martha’s Vineyard Film Festival, leading the organization through the pandemic with the creation of the highly popular Vineyard’s Summer Drive-In. Bringing people together, and connecting resources with those in the community who need them the most is what she finds so rewarding, and what drew her to the mission of the Martha’s Vineyard Community Foundation in 2021. At the Community Foundation, she oversees the grantmaking and scholarship programs, along with community engagement.

She serves on the board of Friends of Family Planning of Martha’s Vineyard, on the race committee for the Gay Head 10K Road Race, and as a mentor in the Communication Ambassadors Partnership “Stepping Stones” program — an initiative to support immigrant high school students navigate their transition out of high school and into career training or higher education.

In her free time, you can find her in the woods, the water, or walking on the beach with her husky-mix rescue dog, Potato.
